J-Pop America Fun Time Now

Onevideo currently annoying people on the internet is this Saturday Night Live’s parody of hardcore anime-fans.

In my experiance, being a bit of a weeaboo or otaku is a developmental stage for many comics readers that normally wears off before you hit 20 (normally). It does seem come from being misinformed about the majority of Japanese culture, but it isn’t deliberately racist, it’s more of an accident of ignorance. For example, I spent my childhood watching pokemon and sailor moon and my teens listening to Gwen Stefarni and reading Tokyo Pop manga, and that is what “Japan” came to mean to me and many many other people
While (as almost every comment over at Comics Alliance has mentioned) this skit isn’t particularly funny or even that current, it did make me think.
